Banasan celebrates 20 years of history

Santa Marta, Magdalena – July 26, 2025. The International Trader Banasan commemorated its 20th anniversary with a solemn ceremony held at the historic Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, a cultural and heritage landmark of great significance for the region. The event brought together partners, board members, employees, allied producers, and representatives from the business and social sectors of Magdalena, celebrating two decades of growth, commitment, and contributions to the banana industry.

Early Challenges and Business Consolidation

During the ceremony, Álvaro Vives, Chairman of the Banasan Board of Directors, recalled the main challenges faced in the company’s early years: marketing, certifications, climate, and logistics.

“Over these 20 years, we have managed to overcome each of these challenges thanks to the commitment of everyone who is part of this company, consolidating the foundations to operate successfully in international markets,” he highlighted.

Recognition for Employees and Producers

A special moment of the celebration was the tribute to 55 employees who have supported the company’s development since its inception, contributing with dedication and professionalism. Likewise, allied producers were honored for their trust, which has helped consolidate a strong and competitive production chain, generating employment and development in rural communities of Magdalena.

Commitment to Sustainability

In his speech, José Ignacio Díaz Granados, founding partner, highlighted the company’s comprehensive approach:

“Beyond commercial objectives, our commitment has always been social and sustainable, promoting responsible water management, reduction of agrochemicals, and community programs in producing areas.”

National Recognitions

The anniversary was marked by important distinctions recognizing Banasan’s business and social contributions:

  • Order of Democracy Simón Bolívar, awarded by the Chamber of Representatives.
  • Order of the Congress at the rank of Commander, presented by Senator Gustavo Moreno, highlighting Banasan’s commitment to the country, sustainability, and community well-being.
  • Additional recognitions from Augura, Asocoomag, Bancolombia, and the Centro de Bienestar al Anciano Sagrados Corazones de Jesús y María.

These awards were received by the company’s directors and founders, who dedicated the honors to the employees and producers, the true protagonists of Banasan’s history.

20-Year Week: Unity and Gratitude

The celebration included the 20-Year Week, featuring team-building activities for employees such as painting sessions, team challenges, a gastronomic fair, and networking spaces. The closing was marked by a spiritual ceremony led by Bishop Jorge Mario Bacci, who blessed this milestone and shared a message of faith and hope.
