The International Banana Marketing Company Banasan reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and the protection of natural resources through the implementation of the ASR4WS Project, an initiative aimed at strengthening water security in the municipality of Zona Bananera, Magdalena.
This project focuses on the feasibility of artificial recharge and aquifer recovery on farms in the region, representing a key step in optimizing water use in the productive processes of the banana sector.
Estefanía Lagos, Sustainability Director of Banasan, highlighted the importance of this initiative and its international scope:
“We remain at the forefront of technological and innovation challenges for the sustainable banana production, strengthening our national and international cooperation ties and our socio-environmental performance through research focused on the water security of the region.”
The ASR4WS Project is made possible thanks to international cooperation with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, through the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, Partners for Water, Deltares, the Dutch Water Research Center (KWR), the Colombian Foundation Herencia Ambiental Caribe, and Banasan.
This joint effort reinforces the company’s vision of promoting a sustainable production model, where the protection of natural resources is integrated with the competitiveness of the sector.
Finally, Banasan recalled that it recently received the sustainability excellence certification from CHEP, a recognition that validates the efforts made by the company and its suppliers in favor of the circular economy and environmental protection.
